"He [Eleazar] stood firm, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand did cleave unto the sword; and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to strip the slain. " (2Sam. 23:10)
Take that apart and think about each piece. Then think about yourself in the place of Eleazar, and those enemies not of flesh and blood we face every day in place of the Philistines.
Think of William Wilberforce, who fought the evil he could reach in the world and trusted the Lord to make of it what He would.
Think of some wild colonials who threw tea into Boston Harbor because that was the most available defense against tyranny. Look what He did with that.
Think on the fact that Jesus only got as far as Israel even though the whole world needed Him. He did what was before Him and trusted the Lord for the victory.
And we come behind to take the spoils and fight more battles so those behind us may take those spoils.
This is my current favorite verse.

This is really cool.....I'm glad you've written about it. It helps me to stay the fight when I am weary....which I am right now. Thanks.
God's sense of humor and emphasis threw timing cracks me up. This is the favorite verse of one of the people on the team I just worked with the last two weeks.
Make that "through" not "threw". What has become of my mother tongue?
